Credibility

Early life & international experience

Brian Burnett was born in Fort Hood, Texas and grew up around military culture. As a young person he lived in Kuwait as a civilian after the Gulf War, attended the American School of Kuwait, and traveled widely — gaining an early sense of how environment shapes outlook.

Technology through curiosity

Limited entertainment options made games and computers creative outlets — from 4D Boxing and StarCraft to early internet experiments. Solving format, software, and troubleshooting problems for fun built skills that later transferred into engineering work.

Sports, teams & leadership

As a high jumper and basketball player for the Killeen Kangaroos, Brian learned preparation, humility, coaching, communication, and recovery after failure.

Esports as a real team environment

Managing an NBA 2K Pro-Am team reinforced systems, roles, trust, conflict, and pressure responses — transferable far beyond gaming.

Why GameAthlete exists

Many professional skills began while having fun. GameAthlete helps others discover skills the same way — connecting interests to projects, mentoring, teams, and career exploration. The goal is not to convince everyone to become a pro gamer. It is to help each participant discover what gaming can teach them about what they can build.
